Half of what we usually have this time of year.
Observation: Anchorage is in an extended drought for snow with about half what we usually have this time of year. The high pressure system has kept Anchorage cold and clear for weeks, but left us short of snow for recreation and for insulating the ground. Ice skating has been fine but the ski trails are thin and rocky making for delayed Nordic ski season. This makes this and some other Anchoragites grumpy. However, the driving conditions have been good and the trails for walking and running are excellent. Mike Brubaker
