It is rare for people in Edmonton to observe a Bald Eagle, especially during our winter months. In March, in Edmonton, it is typically still quite cold, but due to a changing climate and warming temperatures globally, this bald eagle may have ventured here on a warm current. Living here my whole life, sightings of bald eagles are quite rare and most people report seeing one if any in the area in their life time.
LEO says: for more information about the Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) see the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology website. LEO encourages members with bird observations to participate in eBird, an active, global citizen science program. The eBird Map of Bald Eagle sightings can be seen here and you can search by location.
