Observation: February 2017 rain for several days resulted in elevated river levels flushing sewage to Fremantle Port. The polluted waters were flushed into gauge roads Indian Ocean. Normally blue beaches were reported to have turned brown for several days. One case of Salmonella Fremantle isolated from river waters. Pathogen likely to be found in kangaroos formerly inhabiting the area at time of early colonial times.
