Damage from Fall Storm

Winds gusting up to 78mph. Sand Point, AK sustained high winds and residents had roof tops being blown apart and siding coming off buildings. There were bus stops overturned, playground equipment blown into neighboring fences causing damage, also storage trailer over turned. This all within one week following the 7.6 earthquake and 2-foot tsunami we experienced on October 19, 2020. The wind storm caused electrical power outage. This caused residents and businesses to be without heat or power for over twelve hours living or working in downtown area of Sand Point.

On October 21, 2020 the National Weather Service issued a storm warning for coastal areas along Southwest Alaska, the Alaska Peninsula, and Aleutian Islands. Winds were predicted to reach 57mph.
