Observation by Lars Flora:
A black bear appeared to be stuck or napping in a birch tree. Dogs were on property in backyard barking. All dogs were put inside at night and the bear was still in tree in the morning. The tree was on the property line so one property owner decided to call Fish and Game. Fish and Game noted the bear showed signs of distress. The bear did start making its way down the tree at some point but quickly went up to the resting spot high in the tree. Eventually the bear made its way down to ground very cautiously. The nose and eyes were constantly scanning for any dangers. Upon touching the ground, the bear instantly climbed the fence and walked across the fence like a balance beam. The bear showed amazing balance. Once in awhile the bear turned around due to obstruction on fence from small spruce trees. The bear did always continue on the fence towards the backyard/open forest. Halfway across the fence, the bear slipped off and quickly climbed another tree. More rest for the bear high in the tree. The bear climbed three more trees and finally climbed the back fence safely making it to the powerline corridor. Side notes: 1. It was garbage pickup the day of the event. 2. In total the bear was up in the tree for 24 hours.
