The Knik Tribal Council reports: a PSP result for Sand Point Blue mussels = 3793 μg/100g collected on 6/15/2023, this is highly above the FDA limit for safe consumption of 80 μg/100g. People along the Gulf of Alaska should avoid consuming untested shellfish. The Knik Tribe's harmful algal blooms (HABs) project, Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning Risk Management, is a 4-year project, working closely with the State of Alaska testing shellfish, fish, and invertebrate samples sent to us from across Alaska.
