Observation by Toby Anungazuk, Jr.:
We have been having lots of problems by the beach because it is steeper from erosion. So there are old graves located across the river. Those were from one of the flu epidemics. There are no markers. This area is eroding. The 1918 flu as well as the late 1930s were times when there were epidemics. There were three people that were buried down there who died of TB and the area is eroding. There are a couple of other old village sites that are continually eroding. The burial parts from the old village and the graves are being exposed with shore erosion and 12 miles from here, there were villages called Iknituk and Chiukuk.
