Lake Change - Flying across the North in summer you can see watermarks from past lake shores. This week we see an article about low water cancellation of the Kluane Lake fishing derby in Northwest Territories, and also LEO Network observations from Hooper Bay and Port Heiden, Alaska. In Hooper Bay the story is lake drying and vegetation change. In Port Heiden it is the advance notice of a huge lake draining event expected in the coming months. See also an observation from Vermont about changing tick range, density and impacts. The 'ice curtain' that has protected the north from ticks and other invasives is now thawing. 	Summer surprise: Snow in Lapland prompts ski resort to reopen Inari, Lapland, Finland Yle Uutiset / June 5, 2017 The skiing season ended in Northern Lapland in mid-May, but the weather there is still so cold and snowfall so frequent that the Saariselkä resort will temporarily reopen its slopes, which are currently up to a metre deep in snow.
