The Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife said the fish are yellow perch, which are common in the lake.

Though the die off event has been noted to be of little concern, I cannot remember of another similar event in the recent several years. There is a notable drought occurring in the region, and though the water quality of the lake has significantly improved over the past 4 decades, the lake is on average warmer and notably contaminated with pollution from both residential runoff, a recent sewage spill, and post WWII industrialization.
