Bear walks the streets of Anadyr

A bear was noticed by the resident: the bear was walking the streets of the district capital, but the patrol failed to find it.

On Thursday, July 16, a bear walking around the city was found in the district capital. It was reported at 2.00 a.m. by a resident of the village of Tawaiwaam to the senior operative duty officer of the Crisis Management Center. The predator was spotted near the coastline. An operational team went to the place and inspected the coastline. The bear was not found, apparently, by that time it had gone towards the city on a spit. The second time the bear was seen in the area of the Black Sea Coast Guard at the intersection of Polyarnaya Street and Rultytegin Street, at 7.00 am. A police outfit and a Rosgvardia task force left for the place. К 9. 00 they were joined by detachments of the Department for Protection, Control and Regulation of the Use of Hunting Animals of the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug and the State Cason Research Institute of the Chukchi Autonomous Okrug "Animal World Protection Service", environmental management and monitoring. By joint efforts, about 30 employees of the above mentioned services surveyed all presumed locations of the predator on the territory of the city: garages, technical buildings, heating mains - no bear was found. At present, an operation of the Department for Protection, Control and Regulation of Use of Hunting Animals of the Chukotka Autonomous District continues to monitor the situation by patrolling the city streets. If the bear is not found within 24 hours, the patrol will be suspended. Residents are asked to be extremely careful when entering the street.
