LEO says: This observation has been forwarded to the environmental health department at the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation. For communities suffering from hot temperatures in homes, LEO recommends setting up cooling stations where people can gather for cold drinks, shade or fans blowing cool air. We have seen good examples in community centers, clinic waiting rooms, and tribal council offices. Awareness of the needs of elders, infants, pets and others with special needs are important to prevent against heat stress and heat exhaust ions. See the GUIDE on extreme heat from CDC.
