From an average freeze-up to rewarming and a lack of snow. The winter weather is now gone making the river ice unstable enough to go across to the community of Togiak for groceries household goods, bad situation.
Observation: Last year we only had about 2 weeks of winter conditions then all the ice melted and then we had to travel by boat. Our winter seemed (this year) average for the first time in about three years. During the beginning of the week we were able to go across the bay over to Togiak or travel across rivers. (Now) our winter weather is again, gone making the rivers unstable enough to go across to the community of Togiak for groceries household goods, bad situation. There is still not enough snow though, and hoping for conditions to return to normal!
