High PSP in Clams

Observation: The February PSP sample from the Sand Point Spit Beach came back at 121 micrograms which is above the FDA limit of 80 micrograms. These results are higher than January. This is unusual for this time of year. Butter clams are a main subsistence food for the community of Sand Point. During this time of year, most residents are usually digging for clams to eat. This year, the community is a take back with the high PSP levels.
