Wasatch Mountains near Payson, Utah are snow-free about a month earlier than normal. The mountain in the photo with some snow is Mount Timpanpgos, which is 11,752 feet. We stopped in a coffee shop this morning and were told that if we were heading up to Payson Lakes, we ought to go now while there is still water. She said the lakes will be very low by the end of the summer with the drought. My husband used to camp and fish in those lakes over the summers as a kid, and didn’t experience low water 20-25 years ago. Water issues seem to be experienced farther south too, in other areas where they rely on snow pack to refill home wells. Wells have regularly run dry in Rifle, Colorado during the summer.
