Wind fall trees an obstacle
Observation: Extreme number of trees were downed from high winds sometime this past winter. Downed trees are blocking access to the Gulkana River at the noted lat. and long. 62° 18' 00.26" N x 145° 21' 57.66" W, Elevation 1502' "Sailor's Pit" on the Richardson Highway about 1 mile north of the junction with the Tok Cutoff and to the west of the Richardson. The blocked road was reported to me by Suzanne Lappi on May 8th and the pictures taken on May 9th. While the exact dates of the the trees going down is not known, the Gakona Recycling Center was blown over twice this past winter in December and January. Bob Absher
