I noticed sections of trees that had fallen over and or had their tops broken off. I'm wondering if it was a micro storm or a disease that affected the trees.

In central VT I noticed sections of trees that had fallen over and or had their tops broken off. The ground around the base of the trees seemed undisturbed so I don't think it was a landslide. There were no strategic cuts or chipping so I don't think it was human-made. I'm wondering if it was a micro storm or a disease that affected the trees. Thoughts?
