On an evening walk, I came across a bunch of European aspens that to my surprise still had bright green leaves. I was in downtown Rovaniemi, which is the capital of Finnish Lapland, known as the official hometown of Santa Claus.
Many other deciduous trees were in their normal fall state of foliage.
I have subsequently seen other European aspens within a distance of less than a kilometer displaying two additional stages of foliage. One had no foliage at all, and one had yellow and red foliage. They all looked like healthy trees.
