1-24-14 Lake of snow - Nanwalek, Alaska, USA
Observation by Nancy Yeaton:
There is no snow! The mountain right behind the village provides water in the summer time, and the lack of snow has many people concerned. The snow pack that builds during the winter provides us with water during the summer and without the snow there is the possibility of having to fly-in drinking water. The green crab grass has a crow skull and the wings around it. This area is where the eagles gather and it looks like the crow was teasing way too much... How will the early greens affect spring renewal?

In reference to the concerns about water supply, this observation will be forwarded to environmental health and engineering staff with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.
